usa is not a democracy, and never was. it was designed to be run for the rich, by the politicians, and the design has been successful.. if you want democracy, first you need enough citizen quality people. right away you see where the main problem is. even the people who imagine they are the 'left' have no notion of anything more radical than getting a kind master. nothing to be done with anyone who imagines a politician is their savior.
