  1. i wasted my youth reading science fiction, but it turns out isaac asimov's 'foundation and empire' series was not such a waste: a rotten society discovers 'one damn thing after another' characterizes their life, and no individual can turn the course of decay. don't blame trump, he is in office because the political system generates incompetent and selfish participants. ultimately, the education and character of the people determines the quality of the politicians, for bad drives out good with lies and empty promises. you are doomed. however, hell is only poverty and endemic crime, and h. sap. is long habituated to that. the only hard part is watching chinese swank around in big cars, throwing the occasional coin to american beggars, of which there are already many.
