politicians are not your mothers. like any gang they maximize their collective power while pursuing personal power and wealth as convenient. unfortunately, usa was established as a north american arm of great britain as it was in the reigns of george 3 and 4. independence required a few minor changes, to defend slavery and enable westward expansion. but democracy was belittled and explicitly excluded by the constitution. every political party are parasites by intention, 'doing good' as much as possible for supporters only, and driven to public good only by necessity of avoiding foreign domination and active revolution at home. democracy is rule by the citizens, and that doesn't happen in the usa. it never will, while the limit of public hope is a kinder master.
