  2. usa has been living off the printing press since nixon went off gold. sooner or later, someone will realize that buying t-bills is not wise. but they may find, that there is no where to go, and consequently a very slow sell-off is the best strategy. that only minimizes the sting. china is holding the balloon in the air while sliding out the door, but an authoritarian government has a big advantage here: they can cope with a financial shock much better than those societies that have been living on lies to their voters. usa can find itself a third world country, almost over-night. then the religious precept of an assault rifle in every closet will get an interesting test. i'd worry more about this, if the empty money was not matched by cynical blindness concerning climate catastrophe. the usa is the black-hole of humanity, abandon all who share the planet with them.
