  1. usa was born to preserve slavery, enable ethnic cleansing, and ensure the rule of the rich over the poor. the resulting culture reflects that beginning, although the lumpen couch potato might still protest they are better off than slaves. that culture has not changed, the people are ignorant and alienated, the democrats as crooked as the republicans. listen to biden saying 'nothing will change,' to the rich. the grip of the rich on the levers of government may well be loosened, but that has happened before, without lasting consequence. indeed, the republican party once was more progressive than the democrats. a new party of the right is not in view, so the republicans are in no danger. in fact, their grip on most of the state governments is at a high point. the only significant change possible is military rule, and usa is not quite there, yet. the army is bleeding the national budget, keeping the generals well fed, the troops employed without high casualties, so plutocracy seems stable. if trump manages to start a big war, a coup is more likely than civilized socialism.
