  3. 'democracy' is a polity in which the citizens decide the major questions concerning the nation. "plutocracy' is a polity in which the rich decide the major questions concerning the nation. i paraphrase aristotle, but he coined the phrases which we use today as our political vocabulary, so i think his usage deserves respect. the usa is an elective oligarchy [aristotle, again] that is responsive to the wishes of the rich. simply think how much politics revolves around large amounts of money. think also, that ordinary people have no input about the management of the nation. usa is no kind of democracy. referring to it as any kind of democracy pollutes the language, in that way george orwell labelled 'doublethink.' when someone refers to the usa as any kind of democracy, they are lying to you. why would they do that? people who think they have democracy will not struggle to get it.
