one of the charms of real democracy is the relative unimportance of administration personnel. when public business is necessarily conducted in public, there is not much to be gained by shooting people. murder is personal. not political. jfk angered a number of important people, notably allen dulles. for him the shooting of jfk was both personal and political, and he had the resources and experience to get it done. perhaps he sounded out a few houston plutocrats, for political support, but he didn't need much. would have been seething when he totally mis-calculated the invasion of cuba, got a verbal skin abrasion, and a notice of termination of employment.
