there is a 'sociopathic' continuum in the usa populace, perhaps much larger than most western societies, anything from consistently selfish to calmly murderous. slavery and ethnic cleansing gave it a firm and continuing base, and the resulting worship of freedom and individualism dissolves the community which might resist. i think the future of the usa is grim. i am afraid that it will destroy the world with war and environmental looting. there are countervailing tendencies, but not enough. the simple fact that the political system could generate a political 'leader' such as trump should convince anyone that a new constitution is a necessity, but in fact, no usa public figure says so. what future can there be from such an intellectual wasteland?
