  1. liberals say they need government, because they assume the government is working for all americans. this has never been true. it works for the rich. it was designed that way- it is not a democracy. the 50's was mildly populist, the result of measures taken after the great depression to prevent revolution, but more because ww2 production put everyone to work, and returning soldiers had to be rewarded. those brief improvements depended in part on a 90% marginal tax rate on the rich. when society stabilized in the late 50's, the rich began buying back their nation. you are now in the second gilded age. social collapse is imminent and the usa will not recover because there are no longer any reserves of natural resources, and the financial structure is floating on massive unsecured debt, the product of bandit wars and refusal to pay for war with taxes. the rich reward talking heads that explain away their blind greed, but reality will ultimately prevail. perhaps very soon- professor turchin thinks the next 5 years will be 'turbulent. so does anyone with any experience.
