  1. it is a source of continual amusement, that americans refer to their nation as a 'democracy.' it is not, it never was, and that is by design. it was born to protect slavery in the south, expropriation of native lands and, almost incidentally, to escape british taxation. the constitution was not established by "we, the people" but by state congresses in control of the rich, 90% of the men and all of the women were excluded from the vote. there was one state run on democratic principles: rhode island asked its voters about the constitution through referendum, it was rejected. most of the history they fed you in high school was air-brushed, and most of the history you need to know was never mentioned. which is why americans are chained to plutocracy, simple ignorance, heavily coated with lies. how to escape to reality? here's the good part: there is no escape. dim, ignorant people don't survive. they need fairy godmothers to lift them up to citizen quality people, and there are none. bummer.
