  1. it may take more than a president trump to re-program america. i filed the nation under 'nothing to be done' in the late 60's. there's been no visible progress towards civilization since, but its military power and tendency to use it for commercial advantage makes usa an enduring object of attention, if only to dodge the bombs. but trump opens a new page, it's been a long time since an american president has acted as a gangster and murderer without bothering to cobble together the usual 'lone gunman' nonsense. if such a vile person can present himself to the electorate and be deemed slightly less bad' than the democratic candidate, then every aspect of american politics is so debased that social dissolution seems inevitable. superficially, a very desirable step in the national history, only the compost heap remains. but what if there is a metamorphosis, not from caterpillar to butterfly, but dung beetle to liverfluke?
