  1. in fact, universal military training [and service ] is a fundamental part of democracy. the swiss used to have it, but the eu is proving more dangerous to them than hitler. they can buy out, now. since usa is not a democracy, a large army is a prelude to a big war. 'special forces' of small mercenary units were designed to keep order and collect loot around the world, very much the pirate flag vessels of the usa ship of state. they are no longer adequate, as the low-hanging fruit has been gobbled up and further income must come from dangerous victims. iran and venezuela can fight, and usa doesn't frighten russia or china any more. the military remains large, but the economy that supports the military is crumbling. and the draft would 'cure' unemployment, shifting potential rebels into defenders of the rich. universal military service is desirable. but first you must get democracy, so that the army serves the people
