  1. if you keep saying 'our democracy, ' you can never wake up. usa is not a democracy, it never was, it was explicitly designed to be ruled by the rich, and the design has been brilliantly successful. some of the success lies in convincing people that what you have is democracy, so that social failures can be blamed on democracy. there is nothing to be done, ignorance and selfishness preclude popular resistance, usa has entered a period of decline, and resulting stress may lead to dissolution of the federation. let's hope so.

  2. in the land of the free, only members of congress are citizens. the rest are civilians, just watchers. why should they wake up? voting for politicians just validates their rule. democracy is possible, but it needs citizen quality people- in short supply in 'the land of the free.'
