  1. i'm an ozzie now, and not much impressed with mandatory voting. it underlines the reality that oz is not a democracy by compelling participation. it encourages random box-ticking by people who should be at home watching the cricket. on the plus side, saturday elections are an obvious good thing, and paper ballots are much harder to miscount.
