  1. mr. hartmann does not see the significance of aristotle's foundation observation in 'politics.' who decides? the people do not decide, they only pay. worse, they seem incapable of getting off their knees and announcing: "we pay, we decide."

  2. it's a never-ending story, and yet no one can see a path to revolution. 'reform' is easy, vote for me, and i'll fix it, the mating call of the politician in fund-raising plumage. some societies don't revolt, they just rot. not clear which is worse.
