  1. the usa was founded on lies, starting with "we, the people." less than 10% of the men could vote, and no women at all. the immediate purpose of the constitution was to preserve slavery for as long as possible , and ensure the rule of the 'opulent' over the 'mob' indefinitely. it worked and has continued to work very well. yet americans worship it, as dogs worship their masters, kind or cruel. conservatives have every reason to value the constitution, progressives nearly as much, losers don't matter. 'conservative' is simply a person who benefits greatly from the resulting society, a 'progressive' is one who is doing well from it but thinks they should have more. the 30 -50% of the populace who seldom or never vote are losers who have nothing to hope for from either party. no word for it in american, because, in a sense, they don't exist. 'loser' will have to do, but not entirely apropo, since most were never in the race. there is not much reality in political discussion, since the national myths are agreed to by the political classes, and only personal point-scoring holds the stage. when was the last time you heard "maybe we should change to democracy?" never? have you heard "why is the military bigger than the next 7 nations combined?" not often, eh?
