  1. if usa were ever a democracy, you would have citizen initiative to direct or sanction errant public officers. you would also have citizen-quality people who wouldn't put up with attempts to abrade their freedom. but neither condition is true, and the resulting passivity of the people makes life easier for your masters. 'ain't it a shame' will be widely heard, but tomorrow your masters will still be your masters.
