if usa were a democracy, trump would not be in office. but it isn't. madison created the position, an elective king. fdr had a radical congress, for a little while, and could have established a democracy constitution. but that would have involved elevating the electorate above politicians, and you can't expect politicians to that. so usa remains a plutocracy, it is hopelessly corrupt and incompetent, and china is going to eat your lunch. barring nuclear temper tantrum from whatever sociopath you put in the oval office.
