  1. usa in the 30's through 50's was as close to socialism as ever will be. also more widely prosperous. it was the result of ww2. exterior threats over-rode the dark influence of plutocracy. the threats receded, the rich commenced to buy back their nation, one politician at a time. you must get a new constitution. you must establish democracy. when power is in the electorate, they will create a more equal and prosperous society. if you don't the elite will destroy the nation. it is easy to do. if most want democracy, they can demand with success. what if most don't want democracy? hard to believe? but usans have been raised to be 2nd class people, and most might be incapable of being citizens. instead, they will accept the assurances of politicians, not because they believe them to be good and capable and ethical people, but because being a citizen of a democracy requires a self-respect widely lacking in the nation.
