  1. that's the way the usa began, property vote, black slavery, ethnic cleans..., no let's be frank, mass murder. if you are at all surprised at how the usa turned out, just review how it started. the poor are many in the usa, but not enough to change things, the middles are struggling but unwilling to raise the flag of rebellion, lest they lose what remains. the rich are not frightened, yet, and have a private jet and a comfortable home in monaco in reserve. so usa is going to boil for awhile. and don't get your hopes up, revolution is much less likely than military coup, anyway. the education and general knowledge of americans should be enough to support a second 'progressive era.' the first installed democracy in many states, but failed at the federal level. usa could have won through to civilization, but something went wrong. the heritage of slavery probably at the core. in any event, yer screwed. try not to blow up or burn down the world as you slide down the ratings ladder.
