neither party was ever any kind of political party beyond a device to get power and make money from it. most parties are like that, they only differ in the demographic they appeal to for power. the democratic party began as the political agent of the slave plantation grandees, slipped into impotence through the civil war, and eventually recovered power by collecting the votes of the dispossessed of the '29 depression. but they were not troubled by principle: as the demographic center of the nation shifted towards middle-class prosperity, they abandoned the poor. now it suits them to move further up again.
this strategy evolves naturally from the electoral laws of the nation. it has nothing to do with any principle of management. it is entirely a vote-gathering tactic:
be just like the other guy in all important matters, and more centrist in a few unimportant matters.
gop could do this too, but haven't been willing to throw scraps to the poor or middles. trump may have broadened their minds, we'll see in 2022.
you are not entitled to better management of your nation. if you are too dim, ignorant and lazy to demand democracy, with menace, you will be ruled by some elite.
no elite will treat you better than cattle, either get off your knees or get used to pain.
