  1. this is what my english teacher called a 'rhetorical question.' the response can be varied, and possibly non-verbal. sour laughter might be appropriate, if outdoors, you might spit. grift is built in to the usa law and culture. any elite rule needs mystery, to prevent endless dissension. but reality keeps poking up, and brews contempt for rulers at least equal to the contempt the elite have for the chumps. mutual contempt engenders disregard of law, morality and finally mere politeness is dropped. usa will continue, but the elite will soon be traveling in car convoys, heavily armed mercs ahead and behind. you, otoh, will be lucky to own an old bicycle.
