  1. democracy is what they do in the confederation of helvetia. the usa is an elective aristocracy, which runs on money, so it is a functioning plutocracy. referring to the usa as any kind of democracy guarantees that nothing of much use will result from discussion, since the premise is a lie. worse yet, it is a lie generally agreed to, a perversion of language that orwell labeled 'double-think.' this is particularly apposite in the trump dynasty, as he has the vocabulary known as 'new-speak.' and he's not alone- the republican party has crafted a large ruling minority out of yokels and political sociopaths, neither group notably eloquent. really, the career of the american empire continues to amuse because of the flambouyant retreat from reality in speech, mixed with the particular brutality available to the government with the mix of surveillance and tech striking power we call 'modern.' what crime will they commit next, what corruption of language will they camouflage it in?
