  2. the chinese are human, and with wealth and power will come arrogance and exploitation. usa even more human, and farther advanced in iniquity. right now, it appears the chinese are using land routes supplemented with sea lanes, to neutralize america's naval power. not incidentally, they are bringing opportunities for trade and development to central asia, a new resource. china has a much more effective political structure, and are carving out a presence in world trade through intelligent planning. usa has no answer, but militarism. if it doesn't come to war, this is china's century. unless , of course, the environment collapses. this seems a bigger threat by far than an american military spasm. equal in likelihood, but much more catastrophic.
