  1. if you start with democracy, you can have as much socialism as you want. that's why madison wrote and sold a constitution that prevented democracy. but no american politician dares to say "we are are not a democracy, the people do not rule." it would lead to him being unemployed. and americans are too ignorant, anyway: you need citizen quality people to run a democracy, and bubbaland has very few. california would be a democracy, if independent, and a few other states as well. they should secede and let bubbas look after themselves. unfortunately, bubbas are over-represented in the army, and secession might not work. it's a puzzlement! bernie is a politician, not a philosopher. so he says 'we need cheap drugs!' he doesn't say 'we need democracy, and cheap drugs will result, and many other good things.' but you can't have cheap drugs in the usa. it's not a democracy.
