  1. the puppet shah was a pretty useless person, but he did suppress the secular resistance so well, with direction from the usa, that only religious alternatives were able to survive. so thank the usa for this iranian government. something similar happened in afghanistan. the taliban are their reaction to usa 'nation-building.' if the religious people are right, presumably every usa politician is going to hell. i have no problem with that, but the damage usg has done here on earth is what we have to live with, and it is extensive. indeed, they are a plague on the face of the earth.
