america catches all the flak, because it's american military and cia causing the almost all the evil. Flutter Bly

why not forget what he is, or may be, and just look at what he did, which is allow the american people to see their government and military, in action.

never charged with rape. swedes just wanted 'to talk to him' about possibility that he insisted on sex without a condum. this appears to have cia fingerprints on it, there is a long story here. he offered to respond to questions at the ecuadorean embassy, not good enough for the swedes. he feared the swedes would pass him on to the usa. i am very glad he helped expose usa crimes, but for a very smart man, he acted very foolishly. should have stayed undercover but couldn't resist celebrity, and groupies. two of the latter sold him to the usa, inadvertently. or so they say- one has a bit of history with politics.

ja is not a hero, just a whistleblower. some admiration due, but i suspect he did not understand the consequences of his action. people who jump into the tiger cage at the zoo to demonstrate 'bravery' also demonstrate idiocy. his action should help the understanding of the character of the usg, but it also demonstrates the character of the great majority of american people- passive cows and would-be thugs. although the usa is no kind of democracy, the people do have the means to frighten the political class. they do nothing, many applaud the suppression of dissent.

long time since i heard real passion in this area. very pleasant. but poor old chomsky has been telling telling this story for at least 50 years now, no passion in him any more. because america doesn't care. one of the consequences of lack of democracy is alienation from public affairs. "nothing to do with me."
