israel can not back down. they would cease to be a jewish state. the usa doesn't want them to back down, they are a handy terror base against middle east enemies. the problem is not israel, which wouldn't exist if not desired by usa. bds is an economic tool accessible to people that wish to resist their nation's complicity in war crime. deserves support.

@jf8461 a democracy is rule by the citizens. only switzerland comes close. you may well despise americans, they are an ignorant, lazy, and none-too-bright group, but they don't have democracy. you, otoh, appear too despise everyone.

the jewish occupation of palestine was a crime. uk and usa were complicit, it suited their national objectives, and israel continues to serve usa as a guard dog in the oil lands to this day. but this crime is more than 100 years old, so one can not be very hopeful for retribution, or even peaceful resolution. 'bds' may not be a decisive tool, but it is at least non-violent pressure deserving support.

aside from helvetia, 'democracy' is a doublethink euphemism for elective oligarchy, in service to wealth. and the swiss are losing it, eroded by the e. u. all around them, a worse threat than the encirclement by the axis.

a national home, not a jewish state. but balfour was strapped for cash and lord rothshild promised to 'help out' so the deal was done . but it must be remember that zionism formally began in 1896 with the publication of 'the jewish state' by theodor herzl. it grew rapidly, and by about 1925, jewish militias were telling their arab neighbors to get out of palestine, the jews were going to have it all, "from the river to the sea." not quite there yet, mopping up remains, but with continued usa support, muslim resurgence seems unlikely.
