madison is the worst, by far. he poisoned the nation.

carter had some serious flaws, but saints can't get elected in usa. he was and is a better man than his successors.

the nation was designed to be directed by the rich, with african slavery and ethnic clearance for prominent features. the rich still run it, although bureaucrats are increasingly obtrusive. war has become an industry, and its management diverts middle class taxes into elite share-holdings. this signals doom, for burning 1/2 of disposable taxes on unproductive machinery must surely stunt education and health. this is precisely the wrong thing to do, for national prosperity. and no, it can't be fixed. these features are embedded in the nation's fundamental law, its history and culture. the only point of interest is , how much damage to the world, will you do on the way out?

first, find out what it is.

there is no american democracy. the nation is an elective aristocracy, created as a front for the plutocratic rule of slave plantation masters, and re-purposed as the front for corporate wealth after the civil war. the democratic party has since joined with the republicans in maintaining the rule of corporate wealth. why then do people refer to american democracy? to refresh the lies which keeps the people docile. it has nothing to do with reality.

tj's words are empty--- he didn't believe them himself. perhaps they soothed his conscience. usa is built and maintained on lies, not a unique human situation.

politics doesn't pay as well as banking. so you get smart people in banking, dumb ones in politics. both equally greedy. don't laugh at either one - smarter than you. a nation that lets politicians rule under the guidance of bankers will in fact get dumber. it's evolution in action. since you have to take what they deliver, their product will rise in cost, and quality decline. just look at the intellectual standard in recent presidents, 'anyone can be president' carried to logical conclusion. i used to urge people to get democracy. use it to make politicians extinct, and put bankers on a leash. but i've come to realize that the window of opportunity passed some years back. average i.q. has slipped down past citizen quality. now you can only hope to die before they pass you through the dog-food chipper.

rescue democracy? you never had it. usa was born an oligarchy, by design, and the design has performed brilliantly. you are merely trying to rescue the pretense. perhaps for the cynical goal of continuing to fool the chumps, or maybe out of simple ignorance. regardless, there has been no democracy in the usa, and never will be, on present performance.

wish it were so. but roman empire rolled on for hundreds of years with frequent insertions of incompetent emperors.

the american political system is antique, a purpose built shadow plutocracy realized through political agents 'responsive' to wealth. nothing to be done, but junk it. who will replace it? democracy, i wish. but the traditional successor is a cabal of generals and their rich sponsors, propping up the facade of congressional rule with obedient puppets. not much change from current situation, but dispensing with the clutter of courts and bureaucrats to some degree. the roman senate continued for hundreds of years in similar situation, but the usa is faced with a more potent competitor by far in modern chins. they will bleed usa into irrelevance, and dissolution. a modern balkans will result.

there is no 'american' democracy. the political system there is elective aristocracy. democracy means 'the citizen's rule,' and that doesn't happen, in the usa.
