  1. well, one aspect is that for the last 1000 years or so, china has been managed by professionals. the notion of a mandarinate is part of the culture. this makes china receptive to the notion there is expertise in national management, and the cp just grafted on marxism as a leadership qualification. they did come close to communism, briefly, but chose to be pragmatic. this too is part of marxism.
