sometimes societies are unable to respond to changing conditions, and disappear. i think usa may be one of these. madison said he had created a polity 'for the ages' and usa is already much older than most nations, and still clinging to a constitution that was obsolete when established. it is very stable. when you are preserving plutocracy, stability is fatal, for the rulers are the last to be affected by exterior change.
just think of the quality of the people who have been in the oval office, trump might not even be the worst. the management of the nation is simply poor, and the quality of the foreign and domestic activity makes that obvious.
andrew yang is an interesting candidate, so was obama. neither can greatly affect the culture of a nation. the fact that political discussion is directed towards, 'who can save us, who is a fairy godfather,' means the culture creates a lower class unable to envision participation in the management of their lives. democracy is beyond their reach, beyond their imagination, and there is never a fairy god-father in politics.
so i suspect the usa will be joining the qing dynasty, the austro-hungarian empire, and rome.
