  1. india is not a colony of anyone, anymore. india is failing to develop compared to other nations, notably china, but blaming this backwardness on china is shameful. india has an ineffectual government, you might reasonably blame britain for that, but the main problem is that india was never a nation before the brits came, and still isn't, now they are gone. there is no common political culture, beyond an imposed british colonial model, which so far has just been arrogant and greedy. certainly no democracy, large pieces of feudal small holdings which cannot generate the wealth needed for development. what is to be done? follow the chinese path, they have been wonderfully successful, in the face of capitalist suppression. that would be hard of course. the chinese endured worse times by far than india, and perhaps middle indians can not be led to to that level of commitment. so blame china, so much easier. but absurdly far from the truth.
