  1. it must be difficult to direct a nation, nowadays, when some nations take religion seriously, and some don't. and the more different religions involved, the more toes to step on. add in instantaneous sound and pictures, ahh, modern life. not so modern, really. the simple solution is to call for silence about religion, but the simple solution doesn't work. that's because many nations regard religion as central to life. islam blossomed as a warrior religion, 'good news, everyone, there is a god and we will teach you to worship him, with a sword.' it's likely that this message would still be collecting believers, except it turned out the devil is on the other side, and stronger still. conclusion? humanity is ruled by ignorance, and it will be the death of us.
