  1. how charming! indians think they live in a democracy, too. it's a widespread notion, even north korea calls itself a democracy. but, uniformly, not true. i will allow the swiss claim, but you have to squint to let them by. democracy is rule by the citizens. not by politicians, or any other elite. any elite rule is 'oligarchy,' and there are various names and phrases for the various types. but all are rule by a 'few.'
