it's quite simple: the character of the western nations was revealed by the bullying, and the chinese have learned the lesson. usa is attempting to 'bully' again. it turned out trying to make china into its cheap workshop has resulted in making china rich. it might have been a fatal misstep. but it is trying to re-institute the cordon of control, and the results are mixed. the indian government is joining usa in the attempt at repression, apparently out of shame at how far behind china they have fallen. better by far to join china in repressing usa. but that would not be good for the current crop of politicians, and their wealth and welfare is more important to them than that of indian people.
