  1. how many national languages in india? may have some connection to 'muddling along.' there are regional dialects in every large country, often many. but just one national language. when you have to 'nationalize' many local dialects, it means the center is weak. and so - muddle. nothing to be done, in the short term. actually, there is something, a bit embarrassing, but functional. make english the sole national language.
