  1. prc says 'no,' ft says 'yes.' believe who you like. or neither. hyper could be a bit useful, radical change of course and speed would dismay current defense tech. but only a bit - most of the flight must be orbital due to fuel constraints. the problem is that hyper defense of local targets doesn't prevent a bomb going off, and 'local' gets fried. sane people don't regard nuclear weapons as anything but a doomsday deterrent. not that usa doesn't have tactical missiles, just in case. gotta spend some money some time, taxpayers need a steady diet of acceptable use of taxes. 'token' usefulness' is good enough.
