  1. the heart of the matter is, prc is directed to raise the living standard of the nation, india is run to benefit politicians. there are many reasons why india has lagged behind prc, but that is the most obvious.

  2. india is not a democracy. it's a federal elective oligarchy, a very different thing. china and india were roughly equal 100 years ago. now the difference is stark. i ascribe this difference to a vastly better political system, capable of long-term planning and national mobilization. prc shames india's rulers, and most of them incline towards covering their failures with strident militarism and scatter-gun blame of others. hopeless case.

  3. journalism has no future. the web makes reporting easy for anyone on line. professionals are always suspect, reporting for ulterior purpose. and notoriously, passing through many hands to maximize profit. how to extract truth/reality from either pros or bloggers is about equally difficult. best solution is to gather many reports from many people, form an opinion then, but provisional.

  4.  @yl7806  corruption is never a thing of the past. prc has big problems, which they are not addressing. not yet, not visibly. but i generally support them, in their struggle with usa - some devils much worse than others.
