the fastest growing economy over the last 75 years, is a directed socialist nation. they did let '100 flowers grow,' economically, but even that was and is under government control. india is mired in religions and cultures not suited to modern life. some industries and professions have succeeded in global competition, but half of india still worships cows and tills fields with motorized plows. the 'communist experiment' is over, but it didn't fail - it created the base on which prc has become the wonder of the age. the lesson is not transferable, to india, at least, but don't imagine for a moment that unleashed capitalism is the 'answer.' there is no 'answer' for india. it will have to follow its own path, apparently a painfully slow one.
