  1. the rich generally have no nation, money makes them comfortable anywhere. the poor and middles need a sense of community as a defense against the various pressures and threats of life. the british empire, the british class system, both exacerbate this stress within the nation. it has crippled the economy, and no cure in sight. 'serves you right!' similar problems in view in the usa, but the big gorilla is not yet hobbled outside the nation. i presume it will be be, the economy is held up by habit and wishes, which seems unlikely to endure.
