Russian law has very little power in Chechnya and Chechnya doesn't give up to Russia Chechens that Russia wants to investigate. In 1996 Chechen took back capital of Chechnya and Russia made peacefull agreement with Chechnya withdrawing Russian troops from Chechnya. I must point out that population of Chechnya is and was 1-1.5 million people.

@Pythoner Amount of tanks that was destroyed doesn't represent total amount of casualties. Russians learned from a first campaign not to use tanks in the city like they used in a first war. It took few years for Russia to bring order to Chechnya. As well as thousands of dead soldiers. Nobody knows how many. The data is classified. How do you know how many tanks were destroyed in a second Chechnya war? The data are classified. Russia is not free liberal democracy. Regime doesn't want to share info that may be embarrassing. And show how week and unprofessional Russian army is. And show himself week in front of China. And Turkey.

@3aTMeHuePa3yMa Which of the facts i presented is wrong? 25 000 Soldiers killed in both wars from population of one million? Why were untrained? Without modern weapon and Army? Without planes? Where is mistake? The funny part that nobody from Russian elite , generals, politicians resigned as result of the war. And by the war Russian Army killed 20-40000 ethnical Russian civilians in that war
