Also, 900 000 Jews were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries. Their homes , lands, and businesses were confiscated by the state. This happened before any "occupation" or Balfour declaration. There was no such thing "Palestinians" in those days as well, but there were Jews. The root of this conflict is not about land - it's about the hate for non-Muslims (especially Jews). Since1920 there were so many massacres till 1948. Back in Time Jews didn’t have army that protected them and killed those who tried to kill Jews. Then after 1948 so many innocent Jews were killed just because they are Jews.
