  4. I think Trump wants Zelensky to sign away all the riches of Ukraine to USA as a way to cool EU appetite and curve their strong desire to go to war. Then Trump may somehow get some european countries involved in small way to divide them big time. Trump can buy France, UK and Germany with tiny parts and make a mess in the EU institutions.
