Slavery was made illegal in Ethiopia in the late 19th century the thing is in the southern and eastern provinces of Ethiopia where the central government had lacked to exert more power (because it would've been a total waste of time and money on unproductive areas) slavery jad continued but i am pretty sure it was illegal in the central and northern provinces where the most of the population resided
