  1.  @enoughrope1638  My Canadian friend likes to wind me up about how obsolete those destroyers were. I remind him that the USN was still using a lot of them too: first USN loss in the Atlantic was a four piper (Reuben James), first USN win in the Pacific was a four piper (Ward). Sending more modern DDs to the UK in 40-41 would have been taking them right off the tip of the USN's spear.
