  1. Interesting ships. Combined with the radically rebuilt earlier battleships, Italy had a fleet capable of stirring up a lot of trouble. Would have been interesting if the oil in Libya had been discovered and produced with the technology of the 1930s, giving Italy and Germany a much larger incentive to defend North Africa, and providing the Italian fleet with an unlimited fuel supply.
