  2. I remember those days. Visited the academy in 68. Only a dozen years ago, I could still walk in to the Air Force Museum in Dayton. No visible security at all. Then, a few years later, had to go through a metal detector, with an Airman, with a sidearm, standing by. Had to pre-register to tour the museum's restoration facility, as it is on Wright Patterson AFB proper.

  3.  @michaelsommers2356  at the Academy? No. I remember seeing the mast from the Maine, and some artifacts in the museum, from when the Maine was raised, particularly a very rusted cutlass that had been in a scabbard bracketed on a bulkhead. Also took a tour through Bancroft Hall.
