  1. wrt the question about casemate guns being on the way out anyway, in the absence of the treaties, there was a precedent that pre-dates the treaties: the British battlecruisers. The Renowns and Courageouses had the deck mounted triple 4", and Hood had deck mounted 5.5" secondaries.
