  1. wrt the question about Vickers pom pom vs Bofors, I have also heard of the cordite issue, but, was the Vickers designed to be mass produced? Yes, the US automaker Chrysler reverse engineered the Bofors for mass production. Packard reverse engineered the Rolls Royce Merlin for mass production, and I have read the Oerlikon also had to be reverse engineered before it could be mass produced. Ford had to reverse engineer the B-24 for mass production. It would be unusual if a US automaker could shift it's shops directly to building the Vickers, without similar reverse engineering.
