  1.  @viperuscopperus  the USS Essex came close during the War of 1812. All carronade except for, iirc, half a dozen long 12s on the weather deck. A British force of a frigate and a sloop of war cornered Essex off Chile. The British stood off, outside of carronade range and knocked pieces off of Essex until she surrendered.
